As many of you are aware, the Board of Fire Commissioners District #2 (Whippany) advertised in yesterdayâs Daily Record newspaper a notice of special election scheduled for Saturday August 10th to gain voter approval to secure construction bonds. These bonds will be used to first repay the existing Fire Company construction loan used to get the new firehouse to its current âas isâ state and most importantly complete the remaining construction needed in order to move in to the new building.Â
I would first like to mention that the Whippany Fire Company is currently in the process of transferring ownership of the new firehouse and property to the Board of Fire Commissioners making the building an asset of the district, the transfer of which will be completed prior to the August 10th vote. Secondly, the Hanover Township Town Council is fully aware, on board and supportive of the property transfer, securing of the bonds and most importantly completion of the project.
The Board of Fire Commissioners along with the Hanover Township Town Council will be holding and âQuestion and Answerâ meeting at the Hanover Township Recreation Center on Wednesday August 7th beginning at 7 pm where all questions and concerns will be addressed and answered. We encourage residents having comments, questions or concerns to attend this meeting. In addition the Board of Fire Commissionerâs monthly meetings, which are public meetings, are open to all residents and take place the 2nd Monday of each month.Â
Other than at a scheduled Board meeting or the August 10th meeting the Board of Fire Commissioners, the Whippany Fire Company and itâs Members will not be commenting on this matter going forward.
