Whippany, NJ – 5/9/25 – Hanover Township Fire District #2 confirms that one of its firefighters sustained injuries during a scheduled training exercise held on the evening of 5/6/25 at the Hanover DPW Complex at 15 North Jefferson Rd.

At approximately 8:47 p.m., a firefighter was injured during a routine drill. On-site emergency personnel responded immediately, and the injured firefighter was transported to Morristown Medical Center for treatment.

Fire Chief Paul Perrello stated, “The safety and well-being of our firefighters is always our top priority. We are closely monitoring our colleague’s condition and will ensure he receives the best possible care. We are also reviewing the incident thoroughly to understand exactly what occurred and to reinforce our commitment to the highest safety standards in all training operations.”

As of this release, the firefighter is in serious but stable condition and is receiving care surrounded by family and fellow department members.

The department appreciates the outpouring of support from the community and asks for continued thoughts for a full and swift recovery.
