Be the Reason for Someone’s Tomorrow: Join Us for the Gary Letizia Memorial Blood Drive

The Whippany Fire Department is proud to host the Gary Letizia Memorial Blood Drive on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Held at our station at 10 Troy Hills Rd., Whippany, we invite our entire community to join us for this life-saving event. Together, we can honor the memory of a beloved individual while supporting those in critical need.

A Legacy of Life: The Story of Gary Letizia

This blood drive is held in loving memory of Gary Letizia, who was diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 68. As shared by his son, Dr. Matt Letizia, the donated blood Gary received was vital in his battle against cancer.

“If not for the countless gallons of donated blood that kept him valiantly battling cancer, we wouldn’t have been able to create those extra memories that final year. Please consider donating so that someone else’s loved one may receive that same precious gift of time.” — Dr. Matt Letizia

Gary’s story is a powerful testament to the profound impact of blood donation. It is not just about medical transfusions; it is about granting families precious time and hope.

Why Your Donation Matters

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. It is essential for cancer therapy, surgeries, traumatic injuries, and chronic illnesses. Because there is no substitute for human blood, volunteer donors are the sole source of this vital resource.

Your single donation has the potential to save up to three lives. By participating, you are offering a lifeline to patients and hope to their families right here in our community.
