Cultural Care AuPairs from the towns of Whippany, MOrristown, Morris Plains, Randolph and East Hanover met at the Whippany Fire House for a Fire Safety meeting hosted by Senior Fire Inspector Josh Makowski and Fire Inspector’s Paul Perrello and Ian Bell.

They reviewed the importance of checking smoke detectors, planning home fire escape routes for families and identifying a meeting place outside the home in case of an emergency, keeping matches, gasoline, and all flammable materials locked away and out of reach of a child’s reach and never leave cooking food unattended.

Educating AuPairs on fire safety is a top priority for parents.  Au Pairs are often the primary caregivers for many local families during the day.  Fire safety training is important because it reinforces their knowledge of what to do if there is an emergency, starting with getting themselves and the children out of the house should a fire break out.
